Highland Winter Whisky Immersion - Off Season
Embrace Tasmanian winter with an atmospheric day of flavour, history and storytelling in the Tasmanian Highlands.
Arrive mid-morning for coffee and homemade biscuits, then take a relaxed tour of the heritage mill and distillery to learn how whisky is made from mash tun to stills.
A guided whisky tasting will teach you how to nose whisky properly, why temperature matters and how to identify flavours.
Relax over lunch at the Mill Kitchen with some local storytelling thrown in the mix.

What should I wear?
Tasmanian winter conditions can vary, so we recommend dressing warmly in layers, with a jacket and comfortable footwear suitable for cooler weather.
Can I buy whisky on the day?
Yes! Our whisky and gin tasting session is a great way to try our products and with 10% off sales and free shipping Australia-wide you have the opportunity to purchase on the day. You will also be given a discount code on the day, which you can use for 12 months, providing a 10% discount and free shipping on online orders.
Is this experience accessible for wheel chairs and those with limited mobility?
At Clyde Mill we aim to make our experience accessible for all. Our onsite restaurant, Mill Kitchen, is accessible for guests in wheelchairs and mobility issues. So we can assist guests for the tour component of this experience, we ask that you contact Jayne on 0499 017 211 prior to your arrival, to discuss.
Is this suitable for children?
Children are always welcome at Clyde Mill. There are beautiful, open spaces for them to run around (under adult supervision) and there are some interesting facts they might learn along the way from our Guides! 17 years and under have a ticketed price of xxxx
What happens if I need to cancel?
We understand travel plans can change. Cancellation and refunds are available up to 10 days to the date of your visit. For cancellations, please call Jayne on 0499 017 211.
Does the experience operate in bad weather?
Tasmanian weather does have a reputation of changing day to day (!) however our Highland Winter Whisky Immersion does operate in all weather.
Do you cater for food allergies?
Yes, we do cater for most food allergies. At the time of booking online, you will be asked to select dietary restrictions that apply to you.
How do I get to Clyde Mill, Bothwell?
Clyde Mill Distillery & Kitchen is located at 254 Nant Lane, Bothwell, in Tasmania’s picturesque Central Highlands — just a one-hour scenic drive from Hobart and under two hours from Launceston, making it an easy and rewarding day trip. Simply enter “Clyde Mill Distillery Bothwell” into Google Maps or your GPS for accurate directions.
The drive follows the Midland Highway before turning toward Bothwell on Highland Lakes Road, with access straight to the property. Free on-site parking is available for cars, caravans and small coaches, and the journey offers stunning countryside views, historic farmland and a true sense of arriving somewhere special.
Can I use a pensioner discount card?
No, we do not offer Pensioner Discounts.

What happens after the experience?
Once you have finished lunch, you are most welcome to enjoy the stunning grounds at Clyde Mill at your own pace. You may like to simply sit and take in the view, breath the fresh highland air, take photos or pick out your favourite gin and whisky products to send on ahead back home (free shipping within Australia).

Is there disabled parking?
Yes, disabled parking is available and clearly marked when you arrive.
Note*: A ‘cask room thief tasting’ is a hands-on barrel experience where participants draw whiskey directly from the cask and sample it straight from the barrel. The whisky spirit is tasted uncut and unfiltered, allowing tasters to experience the whiskey in its purest form, exactly as it is during maturation.
